Primary Biliary Cholangitis
Primary biliary cholangitis (PBC), once called primary biliary cirrhosis, is a long-term liver disease. The body’s immune system attacks the small bile ducts inside the liver, which become inflamed and are slowly destroyed. Without treatment this can lead to scarring and cirrhosis of the liver.

- The most common first symptoms are tiredness and itchy skin.
- It usually develops slowly, over many years.
Medicines listed for Primary Biliary Cholangitis
The listed product contains ursodeoxycholic acid, the main treatment for PBC. It is a natural bile acid that helps move bile out of the liver into the small intestine. Started early enough, it can improve liver function and may delay the need for a liver transplant. Urso comes as 150 mg and 300 mg tablets.
