Ciclosporin (also called ciclosporin A) blocks a specific cell-signalling pathway inside T cells, the white blood cells that coordinate immune attacks. It stops these cells from releasing interleukin 2, a chemical messenger that tells other immune cells to multiply and launch an inflammatory response.
The practical effect is a quieter immune system. In transplant patients, that means the body is less likely to reject a new kidney, liver or heart. In autoimmune conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and severe psoriasis, it reduces the immune system’s attack on the body’s own tissue. This is why ciclosporin appears in Autoimmune Support alongside other immune-modulating medicines.
