How does Estradiol work?

Estradiol is the most potent oestrogen your body makes, produced by the ovaries until menopause. When ovarian function declines, oestrogen levels drop and symptoms like hot flushes and vaginal dryness follow. Replacing estradiol restores the hormone to a level that eases those symptoms. It works by entering cells and binding to oestrogen receptors, which regulate the genes responsible for maintaining tissue in the vaginal lining, bone, and blood vessels.
