How does Methylprednisolone work?

Methylprednisolone (Medrol) mimics cortisol, the hormone your adrenal glands produce naturally. It reduces the release of chemicals that cause swelling, redness and itching, and it dampens the immune signals that drive allergic reactions. The molecule enters cells and shifts which genes are read, turning down the inflammatory cascade at its source.
