How does Minoxidil work?

Applied to the scalp, minoxidil widens the small blood vessels around hair follicles, which can extend the growth phase of the hair cycle and slow thinning. The effect is local: the liquid stays on the skin and does not lower blood pressure the way the tablet does.

Taken by mouth, minoxidil relaxes the smooth muscle in arterial walls, letting blood flow through with less resistance. That drop in pressure is why it is paired with other medicines for stubborn high blood pressure, and why the tablet form carries heart-related warnings the topical liquid does not.

Mintop Solution, made by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, is the single-ingredient topical line and comes in 2% and 5% strengths in a 60 ml bottle. Morr F, marketed by Intas Pharmaceuticals, is a 5% spray that adds finasteride to the minoxidil, targeting Hair Loss from two angles at once. Lonitab, from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, is the oral tablet at 5 mg and 10 mg and sits in a different clinical category entirely: blood pressure management rather than scalp treatment.

The three forms answer different questions. A bottle of liquid goes on the skin twice a day. A spray does the same job with a different applicator and a second active ingredient. A tablet is swallowed and works through the bloodstream. None of the three substitutes for another, and the strengths within each line (2% and 5%, 5 mg and 10 mg) mark where the choice may diffest the dose.
