How does Bicalutamide work?

Bicalutamide is a nonsteroidal androgen receptor inhibitor used in prostate cancer treatment. It attaches to the androgen receptor on cancer cells and blocks testosterone from binding. Without that signal, the cells cannot grow or divide as quickly. In practice, bicalutamide is usually combined with another form of androgen deprivation to reduce the total androgen load on the tumour.
